IBA Karachi, AKU and Habib University Advance AI-Driven Teaching and Learning

On October 19, 2026: The Office of Academic Quality and Excellence (AQE) at IBA Karachi, in collaboration with AKU-IED, AKU QTL-Net and Habib University, hosted the Annual Teaching and Learning Symposium 2026, themed "AI in Pedagogy." The event brought together academic leaders, educators and researchers to explore the evolving role of AI in higher education.

The symposium featured opening remarks by Dr. Sana Tauseef, Director AQE, IBA Karachi, and Dr. Farid Panjwani, Dean, AKU-IED, followed by a keynote address by Dr. Fazilat Siddiq, Professor, University of Oslo, Norway. A leadership panel moderated by Dr. S. Akbar Zaidi, Executive Director, IBA Karachi, featured Dr. Sulaiman Shahabuddin, President, AKU; Wasif Rizvi, President, Habib University; Salma Ahmed Alam, CEO, Durbeen; and Dr. Moeed W. Yusuf, Vice Chancellor, Beaconhouse National University (BNU).

Highlights included the signing of an MoU among the three universities, interactive sessions, Visual Voices, an EdTech Innovation Showcase, a student performance and the poster competition awards ceremony. The symposium concluded with closing remarks by Dr. Jane Rarieya, Vice Provost, AKU, and Dr. Mohammad Shahid Shaikh, Vice President for Academic Affairs, Habib University.
